The novel coronavirus has already infected 90,000 people across over 60 countries and resulted in 3117 deaths. According to the Live Tracking Dashboard, India has 5 confirmed cases of the disease with no cure in place.
However, UP CM Yogi Adityanath seems unfazed. The Times of India quoted him speaking at the International Yog Festival in Rishikesh,
“The Indian tradition needs to be understood more deeply as it has tremendous things to offer through yoga. The world is waging a war against mental and physical illnesses. If these are cured, then no one will suffer from blood pressure, heart attack, kidney failure, liver failure or even coronavirus for that matter.”

Addressing the state assembly, Assam MLA Suman Haripriya also offered her two cents by claiming that cow urine and cow dung could be possible cures for COVID-19. India Today quoted her saying,
“The rishi munis (saints) had performed hawan by using cow dung and the air of about five-kilometre radius area was purified… Our government can also try to do this. Cow urine and cow dung have many medicinal qualities. In ancient times, the saints kept cows in their ashrams and they lived in a thousand years, but how was it possible? They had made panchamrit by using cow urine, milk, honey, and all their ailments were cured by using it. Coronavirus is an airborne disease and it can be cured by using ‘gaumutra’ and ‘gobar’.”

Desi Twitter is entirely unconvinced though. People are questioning the logic behind these treatments.
Forward this recommendation to WHO please. They should know we have CMs like these.

The WHO recommends that everyone wash their hands with soap, keep a distance from those who are ill, follow good respiratory hygiene and seek medical assistance if feeling unwell as preventive measures against the coronavirus.
