Tubby, The Dog Who Held The Guinness Record For Recycling 26,000 Plastic Bottles, Has Died

A Labrador from Torfaen, United Kingdom, who held the Guinness World Record in 2011 for the ‘World’s Greenest Dog,’ for recycling 26,000 plastic bottles, has passed away at the fulfilling age of 13.

Tubby would sniff out and fetch plastic bottles from his two daily walks and bring them over to his owner, Sandra Gilmore.

He would then crush it with his jaws and give it to Gilmore to recycle. Remembering him on his passing, Mrs. Gilmore said, “He meant so much to us and the local community and he had friends all over the world. He didn’t let it all go to his head though as he was always the keenest, greenest recycling canine around with the smallest carbon paw print ever.”

He was also featured in the Guinness World Records in the year of 2010 for his remarkable hobby.

A spokesperson for the Guinness World Records commented:

“It was a pleasure to have Tubby feature in the book. It was a unique record and we are honoured to have been able to verify his achievement in the community.”

Torfaen council’s waste and recycling manager Cynon Edwards also chimed in, saying that Tubby was a special dog who helped keep the environment clean.

May your good soul rest in peace, Tubby!
