NYE (December 31) is all about painting the town red and January 1 is celebrated as National Hangover Day. But do you know which ‘holiday’ falls on January 2? It is a day meant for cancelling plans, declining calls, ordering in food and not leaving the house (read: the comfort of our beds). Yes, it is World Introvert Day!
According to HuffPost, this ‘holiday’ came into being in 2011 when psychologist Felicitas Heyne wrote a blog post on why the world needs a ‘World Introvert Day’ and the rest is history. It seeks to spread awareness about introversion and gives people a chance to recharge in solitude.
Today is a day for the dreamers. The thinkers. The quiet ones. The ones sitting in the back of the room or standing at the edges. The ones who know more than they show and feel more than they let on. Today we celebrate introverts. Happy World Introvert Day. #worldintrovertday

And people did exactly that, celebrated by themselves, binge-watched TV shows, curled up with a book, worked from home and didn’t get out of their PJs all day. Twitter got flooded with hilarious and relatable jokes and memes on the occasion, here are some of the best ones.
Friends: Wanna hang out?
Me: In person? Nope. No, I would NOT like to do that.
Friends: …
Me: Let's talk through computers like normal people.#worldintrovertday— Karen Frost (@Lez_Dish) January 2, 2020
So today is apparently #WorldIntrovertDay – I think I'll celebrate by staying at home & not doing anything for the day! pic.twitter.com/sMnvIW1EpL

Introverts of the world, unite.
But, like, in your own houses and shit.

Thank god for this day which reminds everyone that being alone and being lonely are two very different things. Sometimes, we need to party with ourselves rather than a bunch of other people and that is completely okay.
