Idli with piping hot sambar and coconut chutney is almost everyone’s ‘go to’ breakfast. Nutritious, light on the pocket, traditional and most importantly delicious; idli qualifies as a perfect breakfast dish for Indians. Not only in its native South India but idli is loved and consumed by people happily around the country. (or I should say ‘the world’)
No wonder, it is the most ordered breakfast item in Bengaluru, followed by Chennai and Mumbai according to a recent survey.
From the past three years, March 30 is celebrated as World Idli Day. People from around the globe are expressing their love and fondness for the dish on social media.
For some, it is a livelihood, for some others, its a way of life while for the rest of them, it is nothing but a healthy and pocket-friendly breakfast option. Some of them have also listed their favorite idli joints in their respective cities.
