Women Share How They Are Forced To ‘Settle Down’ At A Certain Age By Family & Society

In our society, there is a certain pressure one begins to feel, especially women, when they turn 20 – the pressure to get married and settle down quickly. In our culture, many families think that a married woman is a prosperous woman, a “good” woman. Whereas unmarried women in their 30s attract a lot of unwanted attention and advice for trying to live life on their own terms.

Women on Reddit have been discussing the various ways in which society pressurizes them to settle down in their 20s. From their families shaming them for being single to relatives bombarding them with “you’re next” comments on weddings, some of these revelations are relatable AF.

However, the pressure to settle down is not just an Indian thing. Turns out, in various parts of the world like the Middle East, China, etc. women experience almost the same things.
