Whenever we think of the underworld or gangsters or mafias, somehow we always think of men. It is a profession which many people think has no place for a woman but interestingly, over the years, we have seen some women gangsters who probably more dangerous than their male counterparts.

Here are some of the most feared women gangsters around the world.

 1. Santokben Jadeja – one of the first female gangsters of India

She was probably the first woman to head an underworld operation. There was a time when all the illegal operations in the Porbandar area was under her control. It was only after her husband’s death that she formally entered the world of crime.

Since then her name has been associated with numerous cases of kidnapping, extortion, and even murder. She even joined politics but could not achieve similar success.

There is also a movie called the Godmother, which is based on her life.

 

2. Archana Sharma – police still have not caught her

She is a key member of the notorious Babloo Srivastava gang. She has been involved in several kidnapping and murder cases.

She is still on the run and the police is yet to catch her and throw her behind the bars for the horrible things she has done.

 

3. Phoolan Devi – the legendary bandit queen

Phoolan Devi is probably the most famous female bandit from India. She had a troubled childhood. When she was young she was raped and she became a bandit to avenge her rape.

After she recovered from her injury, she gathered her group and killed more than 20 people who she thought were responsible for the act.

While some people consider her as a notorious bandit, there are others who think that she was actually a hero, who fought for her self-respect.

Her brother made her in charge of all his illegal activities as he felt that she was the right person to lead the gang. She used to manage the day-to-day operations of crime with great efficiency.

She soon became the face of the group and negotiated cocaine deals with many South American drug cartels. For more than 15 years she was one of the most feared gangsters in the world.

There is hardly any female gangster who is as famous and notorious as Maria Licciardi. She rose to power after her brothers were killed.
