American Woman Who Left US To Live In India Explains Why Our Country Is Way Better

People tend to glorify life in the US. Especially when it comes to Indians, they think that by moving to America, they’ll be able to earn a lot of money, improve their standard of living, be more free and have a much more fulfilling life. But that is not always the case. Indians, after living in America for a couple of years, have a different story to share. Additionally, Americans who have moved to India can vouch for the fact that life here is so much better.

In 2017, Kristen Fischer visited India with her husband, not knowing that this vibrant country would soon become home. Now, two years into living in Delhi, Kristen, a mother of three, believes life in India is more fulfilling than the one she left behind in the United States.

In a heartfelt video, Kristen shared her reasons for leaving America, explaining that despite people assuming life in the US is better, her experience tells a different story.

While Kristen loves her home country, she admits it’s far from perfect. She described America as a “highly individualistic” and “socially isolated” society. She further noted that people in the US are less likely to go out of their way to help strangers.

“America is a very individualistic society. Very socially isolated. Every man for themselves kind of mentality and people are hardly willing to go out of their way to help people that they don’t know. India on the other hand, is full of life and colour and culture and community and an overall sense of togetherness. People are so hospitable and they go out of their way to help people no matter what,” she said.

India, on the other hand, has given her something she couldn’t find in America – community and culture. She describes India as “full of life, colour, and an overall sense of togetherness”. The warmth and hospitality of the people here have left a lasting impact on her and her family.

“In India, you are never alone. Anywhere you go, there are tons of people. I have met so many Indians living in America who have asked where everybody is. Where are the people? And they have felt very socially isolated and alone living in America,” she added.

For Kristen, there is more to life than just earning money. While the US might offer better financial opportunities, India has given her the joy, fulfillment, and human connection she deeply values.

“So, sure. You can make more money living in the US. And if that’s your only goal in life then maybe you’ll be happy there. But I believe that there is so much more to life than just making money. There are a lot better reasons to want to live somewhere, to raise your family somewhere and I believe that joy, that fulfilment and that kind of life is what we can find living in India,” she concluded.
