A few days back, singer Neha Kakkar was allegedly forcibly kissed by an Indian Idol 11 contestant on the sets without her consent. This sparked a lot of outrage online as well as among the entertainment industry. While celebs like Vishal Dadlani and Aditya Narayan condemned the incident sternly, we can’t help but wonder, why do women face such inappropriate behavior in the first place.
In another incident, a female sports reporter was harassed by a male football fan outside the stadium when she was interviewing him live. According to a report by The Indian Express, the guy tried to forcibly kiss the reporter, while he was being recorded, and she called off the interview and walked away. She then took to Twitter to post a video of the incident.
Some assume being on camera is glamorous. Sometimes it’s not.
I laughed off this fan trying to kiss me at MNF, but I was PISSED! I’m not the first broadcaster to experience this & I won’t be the last, unfortunately.
I truly love what I do, but this field can test you. pic.twitter.com/4kjTDqzd4G

As the video went viral, the man was heavily criticized for his disrespectful behavior.
I'm so sorry this happened to you. That's disgusting.

You should, under no circumstances, have to put up with that. You're doing a job, that you obviously love, and you're in your workspace. THAT plus the fact that you're a human being, needs to be respected. I would have decked him had I been there.

Too right. We need a pair of big goons accompanying every reporter and monitoring at all times for attempts at cheek kisses. Either that or plexiglas booths in which to encase interviewees in case they get fresh.

That’s a big big yikes. Good on you for staying composed but really shouldn’t need to ://

Erin, you handled it with class, I’m sorry you had to experience this.

Guys… be better

This is not acceptable behavior
— Anthony Asencio (@aasencio14) October 23, 2019
I guess this type of harassment happens more than we know. 😔
— Eric Edlund (@EdlundEric) October 24, 2019
The media house for which the woman works for stepped ahead and said that no woman has to endure such behavior.
There is simply no place for this. Erin, and all other broadcasters, should never have to endure this type of behavior.
Until we can make sure this can’t happen again, we are not sending our reporters into situations such as these moving forward. https://t.co/WoFgLYmc84

This isn’t the first time a female reporter is being harassed, and we’re pretty sure it won’t be the last. Till such people around the globe learn basic decency, the women should take action against the harassers.
