Punjab & Haryana HC Dismisses Desi Woman’s Petition Claiming Prince Harry Promised To Marry Her

It is well-established that Prince Harry is married to former actress Meghan Markle. But a female petitioner from Punjab sought legal action against him for a bizarre reason.

As per a report in India Today, the woman named Palwinder Singh is an advocate who appeared for a physical hearing at the Punjab and Haryana High Court after a special request. In her plea, she sought an arrest warrant to be issued against Prince Harry for allegedly not fulfilling his “promise to marry” her so that “no further delay would occur in the marriage”.

The court noted that the poorly-drafted petition mentioned the emails allegedly sent by the Duke of Sussex wherein he had stated that he promised to marry the lady soon. When the judge asked the petitioner whether she had travelled to the UK, she replied in the negative saying that all the conversations took place on social media itself.

Saying that social media scams of this nature are very well-known, the bench threw out the petition observing, “This Court finds no ground to entertain this petition and can only show its sympathy for the petitioner that she has believed such fake conversation to be true. It is a well-known fact that fake IDs are created on various social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, etc… There is every possibility that so-called Prince Harry may be sitting in a Cyber Cafe of a village in Punjab…”

Justice Arvind Singh Sangwan stated that it is “nothing but a daydreamer’s fantasy about marrying Prince Harry”.
