Humans have taken part in many battles for a huge assortment of things. Some have fought over land. Others have fought for pride. And many more have fought over possessing someone they love.

However, McDonald’s employees and customers have thrown some sick punches for the pettiest reasons. A few months ago, it was over some free soda. And this time it’s because of ketchup.

According to ABC News, on October 27th a woman entered the Santa Ana branch of McDonald’s seeking for ketchup. However, a police official reported that things became physical soon after,

“When the store manager said she could not be in the building, the suspect became combative. The suspect pushed, punched, and choked the victim.”

The Santa Ana police released the CCTV footage of the woman, dressed in a light pink T-shirt and dark grey pants choking and slamming the manager’s head on the soda machine. Thankfully, the rest of the staff were quick to respond and pulled the woman off the alleged victim.

Santa Ana Police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna told ABC that the McDonald’s manager had agreed to give the woman ketchup, if only she would go up front. And yet she chose to attack the manager. Bertagna said,

“There is no reason that any employee at any business should be assaulted by a patron, much less over not getting enough ketchup.”

Although the attacker was just person, it took two other employees and another man (who can be seen in the video in a grey hoodie) to bring the fight to an end. McDonald’s owner-operator Larry Kaplan said that,

“Our biggest priority is always the safety and well-being of our employees and customers at our restaurants. We are fully cooperating with the Santa Ana Police department’s investigation.”

As of now, the attacker in question, Santa Ana resident Mayra Gallo, has been arrested on Tuesday by the Santa Ana PD. She was in custody at the Orange County jail on $15,000 bond, and her initial court appearance is scheduled to take place today. In addition to that, the jail records showed that Gallo’s occupation was listed as unemployed. Go figure!

Hope they have ketchup available in jail.
