Gurugram Woman Dragged Out Of Car And Raped While 3 Men Held Her Husband At Gunpoint

Sometimes we see the news and think to ourselves about what kind of a world we’re living in today. Rapes, molestations, sexual abuse have somehow become so normal in our country that it’s splattered across headlines almost daily.

In a brutal incident in Gurugram, a 22-year-old girl was returning from a family function on Sunday night. Her husband stepped out of the car to urinate when she was dragged out and raped behind the bushes.

The couple was heading home after the function when a group of men came to their car and started asking questions.

According to India Today, the victim recounted the incident saying,

“After the function got over around 9 PM, we decided to return home and my brother-in-law gave us a ride in his Maruti Ertiga car to drop us at our South City home. When we reached near Business Park in sector 56, my husband asked for the car to be stopped so he could step out for urination.”

That was when four men came out of two cars and asked why they had stopped. They told them the reason but the men started assaulting them after hearing their dialect which had a hint of Bangla. The victim’s husband said,

“They asked us why we had stopped there. We told them the reason but they started assaulting us after hearing our dialect which had a hint of Bangla. Meanwhile, one of the accused looked inside the car and as soon as he saw a woman inside, he dragged her out and took her behind some bushes.”

The husband further narrated the incident saying, “By then, the other three accused had taken us at gunpoint. We requested them to let her go but to no avail.”

The 22-year-old girl recalled her horror saying,

“The accused threatened to kill me and my husband while I was crying. He covered my mouth and raped me.”

After committing the crime the accused fled. His three friends got into their cars and he ran across the road in a bid to escape. However, he did warn the victim not to contact the police according to NDTV.

While they were scurrying, the husband managed to note down the license plate number of one of their vehicles. This helped the police track down the men.

All four are from Johalka village near Sohna in Gurugram and have been identified as Deshvir, Dharmender, Pawan and the alleged rapist Sanjeet. Gurugram police ACP, Manish Sehgal said,

“We have registered an FIR under IPC sections 376, 323, 506 and 34 and arrested the accused.”

This incident isn’t a stand-alone one. Only this month we heard the horrific tale of a 15-year-old being gang-raped in Jind, Haryana. What was called another Nirbhaya case, the child’s body had been mutilated her private parts showed severe injuries.

The same day a three-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 15-year-old boy in Hisar.

These incidents are clearly coming from a mentality very deep-rooted in Haryana and in the entire country. How many rapes is it going to take for people to jolt out of their slumber and think about the danger our women are in? When is this going to end?
