In many cultures, it is common for a guy and a girl who are related by blood to get married. A lot of women get married to men whom they once addressed as ‘bhaiya’ or big brother. One such couple is Vini and Jai who took to Instagram to share a video of their journey.

Vini shared how she and Jai are cousins and because of their age gap, she used to address him as ‘bhaiya’. She also jokingly adds the popular joke ‘bhaiya to saiyan’.
“We are relatives and because of our age gap I used to call him bhaiya for years 😁 Hence bhaiya to Saiyan..,” Vini wrote.

In fact, their Instagram account @viniandjai is filled with pictures and videos from their day-to-day life as a couple. Even though a lot of people found this video weird, made fun of them and had a couple of nasty things to say to them, they seem to be spending a happy and love-filled life together.
As it turns out, marriage between cousins is not just prevalent in India but in countries across the world. While in some places it is legally prohibited, there are ways in which a couple can challenge the law. For example, according to a report by The Hindu, Karnataka has the highest number of women married to first cousins from their mother’s side.
