Love can come from strange places and from people you never would have imagined in a lifetime. And this woman who fell for her step-brother is testimony to that.
According to Mirror Online, the woman, identified as Maddie, who fancied her step-brother Callum finally started dating him. Maddie expressed her hidden feelings for Callum in a reality TV show wherein people open up about their secret crush before going on a date.
In the show, Maddie said that both Callum and she were only nine-years-old when Callum’s father got engaged to her mother. And in the little time they spent with each other, they bonded well and she eventually developed feelings for him.
But they couldn’t see each other for years after their parents split and the wedding was called off. However, they stayed in touch on social media.
At the opening of the episode of the show, Maddie said, “I’m here to tell my brother that I fancy him. Just to be clear, we are not related. My mum and his dad were together many years ago.”
“But since we got back in touch on social media he’s really matured and he’s very good looking. Callum is my mum’s boyfriend’s son from about nine years ago, he’s my ex-step brother I suppose.”
Maddie, who still lives with her mother, further recalled, “One conversation we had did start getting a bit flirty and that’s when I realized maybe it’s a bit more than step brother and step sister.”
In the show, she said that she’s quite nervous about opening her heart out to Callum. However, she is also quite excited to see what he has to say about it. “If this goes badly, I think we can say goodbye to any future family reunions,” she giggled.
Callum, before their meeting, had said that he wasn’t “looking for love as such”. Therefore, when Maddie revealed her identity after expressing her feelings, he was left red-faced, reported Times Now.
He said, “I can’t believe it’s you! That’s mad, that’s crazy. You were the last person I expected to walk through that door. I ain’t seen you in years, we haven’t even spoken that much – you’ve kept it a right secret. I’m blown away, to be honest.”
And as they chatted over a drink, they talked about the legality of their relationship, and how their families would react to it. “I don’t think we’re breaking the law. Unless we’re secretly related,” said Maddie. To which Callum replied, “Basically we were not even stepbrother and sister because they didn’t get married. We’re not doing anything illegal so it’s all sweet.”
Maddie then revealed that her mum was shocked when she came to know about it and was worried about how Callum’s dad would react.
“I think my dad would probably be a bit lost for words. I don’t know how he’s going to take it but you know what, I don’t care – it’s not about him, it’s about me, about you.”
After the show got over, Callum said that “as long as she treats me well and can cook, maybe I will get down on one knee and propose. I can’t believe she had a crush on me, she was the last person I expected to be interested in me whatsoever. It’s crazy to think that after all these years I’ve still been in the back of her mind somewhere, that’s a compliment in itself,” he smiled.
Maddie felt that it was one of the best dates she has ever had. “We really clicked and got on well. I was really nervous, but I think it went really well. I’m excited to take him home to meet my mum, I can’t wait to see the reaction and the look on her face,” she concluded.
