Windows 10 Is Here & Its Journey From 1985 To 2015 Is Purely Nostalgic

Microsoft has done it again!

The much anticipated Windows 10 rolled out today in 190 countries of the world and it is creating a major buzz in the market. The users who were holding their breath so far waiting to see what new Microsoft is up to, are finally relaxed. With more personalized user interface, enhanced Cortana, Windows Hello feature, improved security and customizable OneDrive, Windows 10 will now launch their other integrated services in parts to ensure systematic upgradation of the users from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.

1. Windows 1.01

Presenting the debut of Windows based on DOS. Launched in the year 1985, it even had the first ever computer game called Reversi.

The year 1987 brought with it Windows 2.0 which introduced cool keyboard shortcuts, which are still in use. The other debut features were icons and overlapping windows.

Say hello to the program manager, file manager, and most important solitaire! This operating system signaled the inclination towards growing domestic use which made way to the advanced windows.

4. Windows Chicago

Available to few, rarely anyone in India could actually experience it, it was like a myth to them back then. This version introduced the minimize and maximize buttons and was a pilot version of the upcoming Windows 95.

And the launch of the revolutionary Windows 95, what an invention! It was launched with a rock anthem from The Rolling Stones and had the added features of dial-up network and a customized taskbar.

This version was quite similar to Windows 95 but was strictly designed for business use. It was designed to be multi-user friendly and enable multi-tasking while conserving time.

7. Windows 98

Windows 98, a mark of many childhood years spent in the adventure of wallpapers and screensavers. This was the last version of Microsoft Windows to run on MS-DOS and was primarily launched to cater the Internet cafe generation. It was very successful as per its time and lasted for quite a long time.

This was the time when desktop became more internet friendly and MSN and IE became an integral part of life. It had better options of scanning disks and disk defragment to ensure that the device is fast and efficient.

With brighter colors and pleasant feel, it had a better user interface and advanced optimization options than the previous versions. It was one of the earlier efforts at mobile computing with the ‘plug and play’ option for office uses.

The permanent face of every computer in a cyber cafe, Windows XP were the embodiment of speed and stability along. XP led to the  benchmark sales of computers in the year 2001 by setting the bar to 1 billion computers.

Left faster than the time it took for its promotions. However, it had cutting edge graphics keeping in mind the time it was launched in. It stressed on security and data protection, yet did not have any solid framework to base it on.

With as many versions as Ravan’s heads, this one got quite popular. It worked efficiently on the mobile devices and enabled the touch integration option which the users loved.

This one led to a huge outrage among the users for the missing Start button. We did NOT like it without the start button. However, it was friendly with mobile devices and led to high sales of windows mobiles.

This was made with the sole purpose to bring the Start button back to calm people down. It did affect the sales of Microsoft. Nonetheless, the hardcore fans of Windows waited for their dream operating system, Windows 10 to launch.

And this brand new version is winning many hearts so far. Microsoft took its own good time to launch it and we really hope the results are worth a perfect 10.

For those of you who are ready to cut my fingers out for not including the personal, professional and ultimate versions, well, in all honesty they were just slightly modified version of the OS, weren’t they?
