During the past few months, several apps have introduced the #DarkMode update for users. On March 3, WhatsApp Inc. also hopped on the darkness bandwagon. The feature is said to reduce eye fatigue while using our smartphones in limited light conditions, reports India Today.

While most people couldn’t contain their excitement, others welcomed the feature with their trademark sense of humour. They equated the absence of light with their moods, careers and life in general.

According to Evening Standard, this feature gets automatically updated for iOS 13 and Android 10 users. However, people with older versions or handsets can’t enjoy it yet. This fact has also provided fodder to many jokes and memes.
