Cops Raid Marijuana Farm In Karnataka Spread Across 4 Acres, Seize Ganja Worth ₹4.2 Crores

Even though procuring and consuming weed is illegal in India, stoners still come up with unique ideas to get high on the drug. This man from Karnataka was probably done with sneakily scoring marijuana from the peddler hence, he decided to grow his own ganja.

According to a report published by Times Now, the Karnataka cops unearthed a plot of land at Vaderahalli, located in Molakalmuru taluk where marijuana was being cultivated. A raid was carried out on the farm following a tip-off from some locals and the cops seized 9,872 kilograms of ganja worth Rs 4.2 crore from the spot.

The main accused, identified as Rudresh, who allegedly planted the cannabis plants that have now grown as high as four-feet, is absconding.

As told by the officials, Rudresh was allegedly planting cannabis in the four-acre land that he had rented from three brothers in the vicinity. One of them works as a teacher at a government school. The three brothers along with Samanthgouda, the mediator who introduced Rudresh to them, have been arrested.

“The locals were watching the news about drugs and realised that the crops grown in that plot was the ganja plant,” said Rampura police officials.

On reaching the spot, Chitradurga Superintendent of Police (SP) G Radhika ordered to slash the crop. The cannabis crop was taken away as evidence.

As per reports, Rudresh leased the plot for Rs 90,000 per month and there was no written agreement of it. The brothers also claimed they had no idea that ganja was being cultivated on the land.

Well, now they’ll know that turning a blind eye to illegal activities is also a crime.
