Instead Of Splurging Money, What This Couple Did On Their Wedding Is An Inspiration To The Nation

We live in a country where a it’s social requisite to be as pompous as possible while arranging a wedding so that you don’t fall a notch in the eyes of the society. In a country where more than 1 lakh crore rupees are spent on marriages, a couple’s considerations over there wedding sets an inspiring example of empathy to the entire nation.

In solidarity with the farmers who have committed suicide, Abhay Deware and Preeti Kumbhare decided to have the most modest wedding and use the fund to help out the people in distress instead.

When asked how the idea dawned upon him, this what Abhay had to say:

“The idea was revolving in the mind ever since I met President Pranab Mukherjee during his field visit. He advised us to become an agent of socio-economic change. Fortunately, even my wife was having similar thoughts. My in-laws also supported us and they were the ones who took the lead in finding out families where farmers had ended their lives…”

They had a very humble wedding, avoiding traditional ceremonies but had  speeches by Wankhede and other activists like Madhu Uke, Ravindra Mundre, Ashish Lohey, Ramesh Katke and Arjun Thosare.

The bride, Priti laid out their plans for paying for the entire education of farmer’s children including their coaching classes for 10th and 12th standards.

She had a very inspiring message for the youth of the nation as well.

“If educated youth like us can’t start such things, there is no use of our education. We must realize that we carry a certain social responsibility for the society.”

If being blessed is the idea behind having a wedding, what could be a better way to do it?
