Mumbai Couple To Celebrate Their 1st Anniversary At Old Age Home Where They Also Got Married

Desi shaadis are famous for their food, energy, and grandeur but are also infamous for their wastage. Which is why more and more couples are now consciously trying to make sustainable choices like asking for old clothes and books as wedding gifts, printing invites on reusable handkerchiefs and giving potted plants to all the guests.

Prashant and Heena, a couple from Mumbai, also gave back to society at their nuptials albeit in a different manner. They decided to organize their wedding (on December 20, 2018) at Aadhar Old Age Home in Borivali by inviting its 120 residents apart from their own family and friends.

The couple chose this unique wedding venue as they wanted to more than just donate money or sponsor meals for the seniors. They believed that investing their time was the best thing they could do. A friend who attended the ceremony revealed,

“It was a beautiful, distinct and left the likes of me, who were also present at that event, speechless. The gesture was definitely rare, inspiring and worthy of applause.”

The couple was so overwhelmed by all the love and blessings showered on them at the old-age home that they’ve decided to go a step further and ring in their first anniversary at the same venue! An evening of fun games and dinner is being organized on December 21, 2019, and once again, all residents of Aadhar will be in attendance.

Earlier, a couple pulled off a beautiful low-key Walima with a budget of Rs.20,000. It certainly is refreshing to see new-age brides and grooms ditch the usual pomp and show and start their own marriage traditions.
