MP Says Traffic Jams Prove Automobile Sales Are Not Down, Twitter Says, “RIP Logic”

It is no secret that the Indian automobile industry is in a slump. The government has even cut down effective corporate tax to tackle the slowdown. According to The Hindu, there is low demand from the customer’s end due to an increase in fuel prices, interest rates, and vehicle insurance while dealers are facing a liquidity crunch.

However, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman blamed the mindset of millennials and Virendra Singh Mast, Lok Sabha MP from Ballia in Uttar Pradesh, claimed there is no slowdown whatsoever.

The Indian Express quoted him saying, “To defame the nation and government people are saying that the automobile sector has slowed down. If there is a decline in automobile sales then why are there traffic jams on the roads?”

According to NDTV, the parliamentarian also added his two cents about the rising onion prices and the GDP growth rate. He offered to provide a truck full of onions at Rs.25 per kg from his constituency and declared that GDP was not a reliable measure of how the rural economy was doing.

His comments had the people of the internet facepalming in frustration.
