IPL Fans Slam Sehwag For His ‘Walkover’ Comment After SRH Scores 201 Runs Against KXIP

Putting an exemplary show recently, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) finally crossed the 200-run mark for the first time in this year’s season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Winning the match against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), Jonny Bairstow (97) and David Warner (52) laid the foundation for SRH’s victory with the bat.

However, this year’s IPL has been a topsy-turvy season for SRH who’ve suffered disheartening defeats and have bagged a few comprehensive wins too. In fact, former India cricketer Virender Sehwag had made a rather bold statement while analyzing the team’s run so far during their match against Mumbai Indians (MI).

He was quoted saying by Times Now,

“Mujhe lagta hain ki Hyderabad ko walkover dena chahiye, kyuni ki humare (SRH) batting mein dum nahi hain ki hum 200-250 run banaye. Hum toh 150 wale khilari hain, aur Mumbai ne agar peheli batting karli toh Mumbai banane wale hain 200 plus. (Hyderabad should give a walkover as they don’t have the batting ability to score 200-250. They are only capable to score 150 runs, and if Mumbai bat first, they will put up a 200-plus total for sure)”.

Eventually, Sehwag’s prediction came true as the Sunrisers failed to chase down a target of 208 runs laid by the Mumbai team. Now, when SRH ultimately breached the 200-run mark against Punjab, fans took to social media to remind Sehwag of his statement. They even suggested how he shouldn’t have undermined the Orange Army.
