Watch: Virat Kohli Answers Joe Root’s Mic-Drop Celebration With Flying Kisses

After colliding like raging balls in the limited overs format, heavyweights England and India have now shifted to the grueling Test format, which is set to decide the better team in the tour. Visitors India were terrific with the ball on Day 1 at Edgbaston, which saw them bundle out the gutsy England line up to a mere total of 287.

The match saw skipper Virat Kohli lead aggressively from the front after a decent start from the Englishmen. Skipper Joe Root was the highest scorer for England with 800 runs to his name while Jonny Bairstow and Keaton Jennings chipping in with 70 and 42 respectively.

However, a particular celebration from the Indian captain has been a talking point after the end of the day’s play on Wednesday.

The story roots back to the ODI series between India and England last month, when Joe Root and his side pulled off a sensational comeback to win the series 2-1. Root himself was dominant in the final ODI when he smashed a brilliant century to put the nail in India’s coffin. The 27-year-old celebrated his back to back centuries by dropping his bat on the field just like singer drops his mike after a thrilling performance.

The ‘mic-drop’ gesture from the right-handed batsman became an instant hit as Root also silenced the talks about dropping him from the squad. In case you do not know, Joe Root had faced the axe in the T20 series which was held prior to the ODI one.

However, never in his wildest dreams, Root could have thought that he will be answered by his Indian counterpart, so soon. On the first day at Edgbaston, Kohli dismissed Root with a magnificent throw at the stumps, leaving him short of the crease.

And of course, he made merry at the moment with some flying kisses and a mic-drop!
