Viral Video Shows Thief’s Hilarious Efforts To Steal A Television Larger Than Him

Growing up, we’ve all watched movies by Buster Keaton, Laurel & Hardy, and of course, Charlie Chaplin. We loved them for the soulful stories they told, their brilliant performances and their slapstick comedy.

However, their brand of humour has subsided over the years, for better or for worse. But one thief has unintentionally invoked the spirits of those comedic actors while trying to steal a television.

According to Prince George’s County Police Department, there has been a rise in the number of package thefts. So, they decided to share some videos to warn citizens. But they ended up sending the internet into fits of laughter with one of the CCTV footage.

The police described the entire incident saying,

“For several minutes, a determined thief works to steal a large screen TV that had been delivered to a Fort Washington home. On the video, the criminal is seen stealing the large box from the home on Gable Lane, then falling over with it as he races back to the car.”

Now the police narrates it in a very matter-of-factly way. However, if you see the video for yourself, the low frame-rate, coupled with the lack of sound, gives off a vibe similar to that of Charlie Chaplin’s movies. And seeing him stumble and fall several times only bolsters that notion and increases the hilarity of the theft.

All jokes aside, since a television of gigantic proportions has been stolen, the police has issued a warning and asked people to stay alert if they see the thief in their area.

So, in case you’re ordering something for this Christmas (or New Year), make sure it’s safely delivered. But, most importantly, make sure that there’s a CCTV attached somewhere to capture someone trying steal it. Who knows? It might turn out to be a laughter-fest that you can watch for the rest of 2019.
