People of the internet were baffled when the video of a kid studying maths went viral. The kid was being fearfully made to study, being shouted at and was in a lot of pain. Her tears and her words ‘please pyaar se padhaiye’, are still etched in our minds.
Many celebs condemned this kind of assault on little kids and spoke about it openly on social media. From Virat to Yuvraj to many of India’s leading comedians came forward to say that this is ‘hurtful’ and shouldn’t be tolerated.
In an investigation done by the netizens, the kid has been identified as singer, music-composer duo – Sharib and Toshi’s niece. On scouting Toshi’s Instagram, there were many videos of the kid that were seen.
Hindustan Times reached Toshi Sabri for a comment. He said that the video was made for their family Whatapp group and they had no clue it will go viral. He tried to justify the action and said,
He also said that Haya, the girl, is only 3 years old and is the daughter of his younger sister. Toshi said that the so called ‘intention’ of the video was to show that the kid has become stubborn and doesn’t listen to her mother.

“Woh video ek maa ka video hai, apne bhai aur husband ko dikhaane ke liye banaya tha, ki bachchi bahut ziddi ho gayi hai.”
He said that the little girl was crying only for the moment so that the mother lets her play and doesn’t make her study. He said, “In every house there are different kinds of children. Ours is a very stubborn child but is extremely dear to us.” Commenting on how people are angry about the video he said,
“Jab baaki logon ko bura lag raha [hai to] woh to maa hai. Ek maa ki mamta hai, judgment nahi kar sakte hain. Jisne usko 9 months kokh mein rakha hai.”
He also finished by saying that you can’t stop educating kids just because they cry like this.
Wait a minute now. The kid is 3 years old. THREE. How does this justify the kind of behavior that’s been done with the kid? How does ANYTHING justify the mental assault that she endured?
For a moment of fun and laughs, you tried to take a kid’s video. But all this while she was going through excruciating mental pressure. And even a minute of pain is going to affect her later in life. Would any parent want that?
The explanation (read: defense) that has been given doesn’t justify the wrong-doings.
I sincerely hope that the people who’ve watched this video help raise awareness amongst parents that this is not how you treat a kid.
