Twitter Celebrates As YouTube Channel Run By Tamil Farmers Receives Diamond Button

‘Village Cooking Channel’ is a YouTube channel run by five farmers living in Tamil Nadu’s Pudukkottai district wherein they post videos cooking various lip-smacking dishes. The five farmers are cousins – V Subramanian, V Murugesan, V Ayyanar, G Tamilselvan, and T Muthumanickam – and are led by their grandfather M Periyathambi who used to be a caterer, reports The Hindu.

Their cooking channel recently reached a spectacular milestone. They now have more than 10 million (1 crore) subscribers. YouTube sent them the prestigious ‘Diamond Play Button’. To celebrate their achievement, the group donated Rs 10 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to help the state fight the pandemic, reports TOI.

The 5 content creators are paddy and coconut farmers. Their channel was launched back in 2018 and has 172 videos so far. They shoot amidst the lush green of nature and cook recipes that are popular amongst their community.
