Rahul Gandhi comes from an illustrious family of politicians. However, his presence in news and social media has been that of a meme; thereby garnering the nickname of Pappu. From calling a male Lok Sabha chairman “Speaker Madam” to talking about how potato can be converted to gold, Rahul has done it all.
Additionally, as the President of the Indian National Congress likes to give his opinions on Twitter in an unfiltered manner he usually ends up being ridiculed by everyone. So, during his visit to Karnataka, it was expected of people to react similarly in real life. But what actually happened was surprising.
While waving from his SUV at Tumkur in Karnataka, a fan of Rahul Gandhi threw a garland at him and it landed perfectly around his neck.

According to NDTV, Rahul was on his fifth round of campaigning in Karnataka when this talented individual felicitated the politician with a garland. As we can see from the video, the person merely threw it at the INC President and it luckily landed around his neck. For a second Rahul did look stunned, but he later smiled and waved at his supporters.
However, even though this is a departure from the regular tomatoes, sandals and ink that’s thrown at politicians, it’s being considered as a severe security breach. News18 has reported that the Karnataka Police is looking into this incident at first priority basis.
Security breach or not, Twitter couldn’t stop making jokes about the mysterious garland thrower and Rahul Gandhi.

The Gandhi family’s history is littered with tragic incidents. So, those who’re concerned about Rahul Gandhi’s safety have every right to do so. However, considering how things went smoothly, this incident can be seen in an amicable manner. In addition to that, as political campaigns can get extremely strenuous, Rahul Gandhi can thank the garland thrower for giving him a moment of relief.
