Karan Launches Star Kids. It’s A Fact: Varun Sides With Kangana On The Nepotism Debate

Kangana Ranaut has been controversy’s favourite child these past few weeks with her spat with Hrithik Roshan unfolding everywhere and in a scandalous way, too. However, an important issue got overshadowed in the process- “Nepotism”.

Remember when Kangana Ranat called out Karan Johar on nepotism? Turns out she has found an unlikely ally.

Varun Dhawan recently came out in support of Kangana Ranaut and her view on nepotism. Yes, you heard that right! Varun was launched by Karan Johar in ‘Student Of The Year’ and is the son of film-maker David Dhawan, but being a ‘star kid’ himself has not stopped him from taking a stand.

According to Indian Express, Varun was called as a guest at the Jagran Cinema Summit for a session titled “Future of Stardom”, when a journalist asked about his opinion on the allegations Kangana Ranaut made against Karan Johar for launching “star kids”.

To this question Varun replied,

“Who all has he (Karan Johar) launched? Star kids only, right? So how is it an allegation? It is a fact, right?”

However, Varun was quick to defend Karan Johar in the same statement saying that he has also launched directors like Shashank Khaitaan along with actors like Siddharth Malhotra, who were not star-kids.

Although, he defended the director, Varun made it evident that he stood with Kangana regarding the nepotism debate.

He further went on to conclude his statement by saying,

“So, what Kangana (Ranaut) is saying is right, but this whole thing is too blown up. I think she was trying to get her point across in her way, but people really stretched it too much. Such things happen in the fraternity!”

Varun Dhawan had earlier shared stage with Karan Johar during the whole “Nepotism Rocks!” fiasco at IIFA Awards. He had later apologised for the statement after he received backlash from everyone for the distasteful mockery of the actress.

Looks like Varun has tried his best to take a diplomatic stance on the whole debate and not spark more controversies from his statements. We wonder what Karan Johar has to say about this obvious show of support.
