This Public Toilet In Norway Is Absolutely Gorgeous, We Wish India Had One Too

There is a lot we can learn from the Scandinavian countries of Denmark, Norway and Sweden. They continually top the World Happiness Report each year due to their government policies, work-life balance and life expectancy. Apart from these, their architecture is also minimalist and breathtaking. Whether it is their restaurants or toilets, everything looks absolutely gorgeous.

Case in point, this wave-shaped structure made of frosted glass and concrete which is actually a public restroom along the Norwegian scenic route!

The area of ‘Ureddplassen’ is a resting spot along the road with spectacular views of the fjords and the open sea. Residents and tourists come here for picnics during the day and gazing at the midnight sun or northern lights at night. The place has an amphitheatre, marble benches and this beautiful washroom.

Designed by Haugen/Zohar Arkitekter, it is wheelchair accessible and lights up stunningly in the dark.

This area is also significant because it is a memorial place. During World War II, the submarine “Uredd” (which is Norwegian for fearless) hit a mine in Fugløyfjorden. The sinking of the submarine resulted in the death of 42 sailors. A monument has been erected in their honour.

Looking at these pictures is making us super jealous. Wish we had such a beautiful restroom in India too.
