UPSC Aspirant From UP Kidnaps 5-Year-Old To Recover Money Lost In Fake Job Racket

Unemployment has become a huge problem in the country. People who have achieved laurels of success are sitting at home unemployed and frustrated because the generation of employment is so low. As they say, ’empty mind is the devil’s workshop’, these people start looking for desperate measures to make money and may even go down the path of crime.

This is exactly what happened when a 27-year-old kidnapped a 5-year-old child to recover the money he lost when he was duped with the prospect of a job.

The incident occurred in Delhi and was committed by a man identified as Asif Saifi. According to a Hindustan Times report, the accused was preparing for the Civil Services exam and simultaneously teaching in a private institution as well. This is when he was trapped in a job racket and allegedly lost Rs 4.5 lakh.

He searched everywhere but could not locate the man who cheated him. He frequented Subhash Vihar Chowk in Bhajanpura every day to search for the man. This was when he saw the little boy playing outside his house and hatched the plot to kidnap the child to recover his money.

Saifi befriended the child after knowing that he came from a wealthy family as the boy’s father owned a private school, a medical store and a dairy shop. He visited the neighbourhood twice to conduct some recon. On one occasion, he said that he was a neighbour and asked the boy for his father’s number.

He then allegedly lured the kid to the park with the help of a teenager and took him to his village in Dadri after kidnapping him on Monday. He kept him in an abandoned house near his own. Police said that he got his inspiration from Bollywood films.

He made the first ransom call at 9 am on Tuesday from a stranger’s phone and demanded ₹20 lakh. However, when the owner was traced, he claimed he was innocent.

Saifi made the second call at 5 pm on Tuesday, using the same method but this time the police had access to CCTV footage of the location from where he made the call and saw him in that footage. They wasted no time in tracing him down and arresting him and rescued the boy from UP.

Guess he was not that smart, after all! We hope that the accused gets proper punishment.
