In yet another news of a woman in danger, TV’s beloved Pinky Bua, actress Upasana Singh was almost molested by a taxi driver in Chandigarh.
Upasana Singh is a familiar face on television as well as in movies. Her ‘Pinky Bua’ act in the show Comedy Nights With Kapil was much loved by fans, turning her into a household name.
The incident occurred recently when Singh was in Landran, Chandigarh for the shoot of a film and was returning to her hotel in Zirakpur via cab.
According to Amar Ujala, Upasana Singh was staying at the Ramada Plaza, Zirakpur, located on the Ambala-Chandigarh highway. After finishing her shoot in Landran late at night, she was on her way back to her hotel.
Around 10 pm, the cab driver, who was later identified as Vivek, turned the car onto a deserted stretch of the Ring Road. Singh felt uneasy about this and immediately dialled the police control room. The van arrived within minutes and arrested the accused.
Another police vehicle escorted Upasana to her hotel.
Initially, the cab driver denied the molestation, stating a whole different story.
The accused claimed that Upasana had expressed her wish to drive the car herself. She wasn’t alone in the cab; rather, she was accompanied by some other team members from the film shoot.
As soon as they reached the airport roundabout, the driver claimed that Upasana asked him to stop the car and demanded to let her drive it. But when she was unable to start the car, she blamed him, the driver, for tampering with it.
Vivek also claimed that she and the other passengers (her friends) beat him up and then handed him over to the police.
