In A First, UP Man Fined ₹10,000 After He Gets Caught Without Mask For 2nd Time

Medics and government authorities have been requesting people continuously to wear a mask and take necessary precautions against the coronavirus. As India battles the second wave of the pandemic, there are still people who refuse to wear a mask in public, endangering their lives and those of others as well.

For example, Amarjit Yadav from Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, was spotted roaming outdoors on April 17 and 18 without a mask. At first, he was fined Rs 1,000 for the offence and was left with a warning from the police on the 18th, reports News18.

However, when he was found flouting the norms again on Monday at the main crossing in Lar, he was immediately fined Rs 10,000 by the police, reports Tribune India.

“We had already warned him on April 18 and fined him Rs 1,000. We had also given him a mask,” said Lar’s SHO, T.J. Singh.

“We have formed teams and divided the district into sectors to enforce Covid-19 safety protocol. People not following protocols are first warned and then slapped with a challan of Rs 1,000. If someone flouts norms even after this, a fine of Rs 10,000 is realized from him,” he added.

Keeping in mind that Covid cases are surging enormously by the day, the only sensible thing to do now is to wear a mask and take necessary precautions. Is that too much to ask for?
