Amidst all the weird and whacky viral videos that are making rounds on the internet, here is something disturbing that will pose a question on how safe we are within the country.
The video that was extensively shared on social media showed a man celebrating his birthday with his friends. It might sound like a normal cake cutting and ‘smashing the cake onto the face’ kind of celebration, but it is not as normal as it seems. The footage shows the young man cutting his birthday cake with a gunshot. Yes, that is as disturbing as it sounds.
The man was reportedly seen firing at a cake placed in the middle of a road with a country-made gun. The friends seem to be exhilarated with his actions without realising that the gunshot could have taken their life if the man had missed his mark.

Reports suggest that the incident took place on Wednesday in the Sarurpur Kherki village of Baghpat district in Uttar Pradesh.
Taking cognizance of the incident, Baghpat Circle Officer OP Singh said that action would soon be initiated against the accused.
“The video has come to our notice and we have started investigations. The accused will soon be arrested since he is seen using an illegal weapon,” he said.
But this is not the first time that a video like this has surfaced the internet. A while ago, a video of a birthday party celebrated in a similar fashion was uploaded on Tik Tok that sparked the interest of netizens.

Police sources suggest that UP has the highest number of licensed firearms. But the number of unlicensed firearms is far greater and this is an alarming concern that needs immediate redressal.
