According to Hindustan Times, the cops went out to catch the gangster Vikas Dubey after a villager lodged a case of attempt to murder against him. The police believe that the criminals might have been informed of the raid hence they obstructed the entrance. When the cops approached Vikas’s hideout and came out of their vehicles, the criminals opened fired from a rooftop, leading to the death of deputy SP Devendra Mishra, three sub-inspectors and four constables. Post the firing, UP police’s Special Task Force (STF) has been put to action.
ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar said that apart from the eight cops, seven other people, including a civilian, were also injured in the incident.
A case under Sec 307 was lodged against history-sheeter Vikas Dubey, police had gone to arrest him. JCBs were put up there which obstructed our vehicles. When cops got down, criminals opened fire.
