Uorfi Javed Slams Chetan Bhagat For Promoting ‘Rape Culture’ & Saying She ‘Distracts Youth’

Back in the past, social media personality, Uorfi Javed has been shamed by several celebs for her fashion sense. The fact that her clothes do not adhere to the ‘conventional’ norms of clothing determined by the orthodox and misogynistic society has often kept her on the receiving end of bullying and slut-shaming.

Recently, eminent author Chetan Bhagat blamed her for distracting the youth, especially boys, with her pictures that too while delivering his speech at a literary fest.

“Ek humara youth ye hai jo bistaron mein ghus ke Uorfi Javed ki photos dekh raha hai,” he had said.

And just like many of us, even Uorfi tried to figure out what was the need for Bhagat to use her name at a literary fest.

Furious by his actions, the model took to her Instagram stories to criticize his statement and called him a pervert.

“Men like him will always blame the women (rather) than accepting their own shortcomings. Just because you’re a pervert doesn’t mean it’s the girl’s fault or what is she wearing. Unnecessarily dragging me into a conversation, commenting on how my clothes are distracting young boys is such as f****d thing to say. You messaging girls isn’t a distraction for them, Chetan Bhagat?”

After Bhagat’s comment, a Twitter user came to support him. Reminding users like him about the previous #MeToo allegations leveled at Chetan Bhagat, Uorfi wrote:

“Guys, let’s not forget how so many women accused him during the me too case.”

She even slammed him for promoting ‘rape culture’ and blaming women for the behavior of men.

“Stop promoting rape culture you sickos out there! Blaming a women’s clothes for the behaviour of men is so 80’s Mr. Chetan Bhagat. Who was distracting you when you msged girls half of your age? Always blame the opposite gender, never accept your shortcomings or faults. People like you are misguiding the youth not me. Encouraging men to put the blame on the women or her clothing when they are at fault.” (sic)

Uorfi also shared the leaked screenshots of Bhagat’s alleged WhatsApp messages to a journalist while he was married.

The writer of the novel ‘2 States: The Story of My Marriage’ quickly took to Twitter and shared that the screengrabs she is spreading are fake.

“Have never spoken to/chatted with/met/ known someone where it’s being spread that I have done so. It’s fake. a lie.also a Non issue.Haven’t criticised anyone. And I also think there’s nothing wrong in telling people to stop wasting time on Instagram and focus on fitness and career.” (sic)

Seems like Bhagat is becoming the controversy’s favorite child for giving problematic opinions. Earlier, he faced massive backlash for his views on the Vir Das controversy. What do you think of his latest episode with Uorfi?
