Man Proposes To Long-Time Girlfriend Underwater, Hides Glass Ring In A Shell, Watch Video

Popping the question to the love of our life is never an easy task. The entire task of looking for a perfect ring and planning for that perfect moment is always nerve-wracking. Moreover, the constant anxiety of getting a ‘no’ from them often gets us. Similarly, it wasn’t easy for these guys too. But their urge to move mountains just to make their love extra special worked for them.

From spelling out ‘Will You Marry Me?’ on a farm to popping the question mid-air and even mapping a secret proposal, people have done it all. But this 30-year-old Virginia resident decided to go down under to propose his long-time girlfriend. According to NDTV, Ethan Studenic proposed to Morgan Whittaker, 28, who he’s been dating for 10 years, underwater in the Caribbean Sea.

The couple were on their first scuba diving excursion with a couple of their friends when the lab administrator decided to give it a shot. When all of them were submerged 30ft underwater at the Caribbean Island of Bonaire, pretending to pick something up from the ocean floor, Ethan produced a ring and asked Morgan to marry him. He said:

“Five years ago, I had the idea of an underwater proposal. I thought it would be cool, really unique and interesting. I decided to propose on the first reef we dove together.”

FYI, he’s been planning for it for almost five years, reported Metro. “I wanted it to be a romantic proposal and I’m not the greatest at that kind of thing. I thought if I could go back to Bonaire, I could recapture that magic of our first vacation away together,” he added.

On their second trip to Bonaire with friends, Morgan had no idea that Ethan had packed a ring hidden in a case made out of two seashells to propose her. And soon after he produced the ring, it was an immediate yes from Morgan who happens to be a social worker, said Fox News.

And like good friends, their mates swam underwater with cameras to capture their romantic moment. Ethan went ahead and made the proposal even special by making the ring with crushed sea glass that both of them had collected on their first trip.

“There is a bunch of glass that washes up on the beach off that reef. We had taken a couple of pieces home the first time we went. I had it crushed up and embedded in the engagement ring,” he explained. He hid the wood and glass ring inside a case made of shells that his soon-to-be sister-in-law gave him. “I needed something to put the ring in and I didn’t want it getting wet. So my soon-to-be sister-in-law made me a case out of two shells,” he added.

Reacting to the amazing proposal, Morgan said, “I was pretty shocked. When he first reached down, I honestly thought he was picking up a wild animal. When he was opening up the shell, I was seriously worried and then I just sat there in total shock. I said absolutely yes. Ethan introduced me to scuba diving and it is one of the things we love most in the whole world so it was wonderful to have the proposal in that setting,” the ecstatic Morgan added.

The couple who got engaged in July last year is planning to get into wedlock in April this year. Although the intention behind Ethan’s idea was commendable, one really needs to be cautious before trying such things. Earlier, a man drowned while proposing to his girlfriend underwater.

The struggle of these men is commendable, however, the efforts of their friends and family who go all the way to capture their special moment (like the woman who dressed up as a bush to secretly click candid pics of her sister’s proposal), is incredible too. Don’t you think so?
