“7 Second Me Tapka Dunga,” Ujjain SHO Warns Citizens Against Public Gatherings, Gets Suspended

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, has called for a complete lockdown of 21 days in the country to stifle the spread of coronavirus. But some people are still heading out on the streets turning a blind eye to the PM’s appeal. And, the cops, are obviously finding it difficult to control the people from coming out of their house. Hence, they are taking to creative measures to teach lockdown offenders a nice lesson.

Accordingly, they are making the ‘convidiots’ do sit-ups and even using lathi-charge to punish them. But the punishment in some cases has turned out to be inhumane. In fact, a Bengal man who headed out to buy milk was allegedly beaten to death by policemen recently.

Of late, in another case, Sanjay Verma, a station house officer (SHO) posted at the Mahidpur Police Station in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain posted a warning on a local WhatsApp group over the outdoor gatherings in the city, reports News 18. But the words he chose weren’t wise enough.

He allegedly wrote in the message, “7 Second Me Tapka Dunga,” (I’ll kill you in just seven seconds). He also reportedly asked the group members to forward his ‘warning cum threat’ to other local WhatsApp groups.

The message was allegedly sent from his personal mobile number. In his further messages, the cop also claimed that he is a silver medalist and people won’t forget him for his deeds. Reports state that the officer further wrote that some people could be upset with him for the moment, but would later thank him.

As soon as the matter came to light, the police department issued a suspension order for Verma.

We understand that the cops are facing immense trouble in making people stay at their respective homes but such threats are surely neither safe nor a sensible way to enforce the lockdown.
