Udta Punjab, the movie that’s already the talk of the town even when its release is uncertain, can thank the banning rumor for its promising promotion.
However, Anurag Kashyap, the co-producer of the film took to twitter to dismiss any rumor that suggests the movie has been banned by the Central Board of Film Certification.
Here’s what he has written:
1.
For the record ,”Udta Punjab” is not banned. The examining committe has deferred the decision to Revising and due process is on.

2.
And due process takes it own time so please abstain for spreading a BAN rumour. There is nothing to speak on the subject as of now.
— Anurag Kashyap (@anuragkashyap72) May 28, 2016
3.
A film is banned only when examining, revising and FCAT all three refuse certificate . And then you fight it out in Supreme Court

40 cuts were demanded of the film by the CBFC because of excessive expletives as well as visuals of substance abuse. However, rumor had it that the movie had been given a red signal by the Board which led the internet go crazy about the rash decision on the Board’s part.
Anurag Kashyap’s tweet comes out to be quite reassuring for the fans who are more than impressed with the promising trailer of Udta Punjab, and it seems like they’re not going to be left high and dry after all.
