The world of beauty is forever changing and evolving. Every once in a while, there’s a new trend that hits the scene and takes everyone by storm. Some of these changes are amazing (like the rise of K-beauty or Korean skincare) while others are plain bizarre (read: fire therapy from Vietnam). The latest one though is skincare fridges!
But what are skincare fridges and what is their purpose?
See that cute little mini-fridge with skincare products in it? Yes, that’s a skincare fridge. According to Vogue UK, “a refrigerated skincare product will always be that much more effective at de-puffing and boosting circulation than a room-temperature one.” So basically, it is a good idea to store sheet masks, lotions, face mists and serums (with Vitamin C) at cold temperatures. Also, certain organic products need to kept in the fridge as they don’t contain chemical preservatives.
When Twitter user @safiyajn asked if she’d gone too far by buying a skincare fridge, the internet’s opinion was divided.

On the one hand, there are obvious benefits to keeping certain skincare products chilled. On the other, investing this kind of money and space in a fridge for beauty seems excessive, don’t you think? But if it’s an indulgence or gift that you’re giving yourself, then by all means, go for it!
