Gram Panchayat Candidate Promised Virat Kohli As Chief Guest, Brings A Lookalike Instead

India is a country that is constantly in a cycle of elections. Once we’re done with the state-level elections, we’ve to move on to the national level elections and then repeat until the other one. And while hardcore party supporters quarrel over who’s going to win and who’s better, we laid-back people get to enjoy a lot of wholesome memes. The latest one is from a Gram Panchayat election in Maharashtra.

Reportedly, the Ramaling Development Panel put up a poster for their campaign claiming that their special guest is going to be Virat Kohli.

And they stood by their promise in the most hilarious manner possible.

During the Gram Panchayat elections in Shirur, the Ramaling Development Panel had the audacity of saying that their campaign’s special guest is going to be Virat Kohli. It’s obvious that they said so in order to attract more voters but it isn’t so easy to get the captain of the men’s Indian Cricket Team. So, they simply propped up a fake one.

Now, you might be thinking why was their claim so specific? Well, there’s a reason for that as well. The Ramaling Development Panel’s symbol is a bat and Virat Kohli is specially known for his batting as well. So, they thought that was the best way to promote themselves.

While the people in Shirur might’ve been fooled by the fake Virat Kohli, netizens caught on to the scam.

Although we couldn’t individually verify the authenticity of this news, Twitter is convinced. The only confirmation we’ve received is from Twitter user @TheChaoticNinja, who said that he got to know about this from his friend who lives in Shirur.

Any kind of political campaigning isn’t a very easy job. It’s very tough to convince people to vote for you. But this is just next level campaigning and a pretty hilarious one as well. Wonder what Virat Kohli will do after he sees this.
