Meet Tara & Tori, The Identical Twin Nurses Who Just Delivered Identical Twin Babies

I don’t have an identical twin, but my mother and my aunt used to dress my cousin and me in matching clothes especially during the holidays just because we were born just ‘months apart’. We never wanted to be dressed alike, forget taking up the same profession or working together like these twin sisters from Georgia. In fact, this pair of identical twins are now working in the same department at the hospital.

According to CNN, Twin sisters, Tori Howard and Tara Drinkard, have been working at the Piedmont Athens Regional in Georgia for 5 years but never actually got a chance to work together until this day. After an unexpected turn of events, both the identical twin sisters helped a member of the hospital staff deliver identical twin babies!

Tara who earlier worked in the emergency room made a switch to working in the labour and delivery unit. Tori was already working in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Ideally, when a baby is to be delivered, nurses from both the departments are supposed to be present there. This meant, the sisters were going to work together.

According to the hospital, the sisters realized they were to work together, just an hour before the delivery.

The expecting parents, Rebecca and Brannan Williams were obviously nervous about the delivery, but knowing that their twins will be delivered by these twin sisters, certainly helped.

“I was really nervous about the walk into the C-section room. And then learning that, I was like, oh, that’s pretty cool! It kind of relaxed me a little bit,” he told CNN. Brannan further adds that the twin sisters delivering their twins Addison and Emma made it even more memorable.

“It’s a pretty cool experience having them in there and being able to ask them questions. It was pretty neat because Tara took care of Rebecca in the labour and delivery room and Tori was taking care of Emma in the NICU,” he said. “It’s been amazing. We’ve had amazing care,” said Rebecca.

Now the parents find their relationship with the sisters invaluable. The new father said they would be staying in touch with Tara and Tori to take their advice on raising their twin daughters. “They (Tara and Tori) have become our friends. I look forward to letting the girls know about this one day, and hopefully, they’ll get to meet them and keep carrying this thing on,” adds Brannan. And he probably will since his wife, Rebecca works at the same hospital as a recruiter.
