Actor Abhishek Bachchan who stepped into Bollywood in the year 2000 with his movie ‘Refugee’ recently celebrated 20-years of being in the Indian film industry. In an interview with Hindustan Times, ‘junior Bachchan’ talks about his filmy journey.
Sharing how he celebrated this milestone, the actor said, “I got up, got ready and went to work. That is the best way, according to me.” When asked to go back in time and evaluate his work, Abhishek said:
“I don’t like my work. When I review my work, I find many flaws that need to be rectified.”
“I am not the person who says ‘well done, good job’, I find flaws everywhere,” he exclaims. He further added that he can’t pick his favourite films from his career of two decades because there is room for improvement.
The ‘Housefull 3’ actor also divulged, “I watch my films almost daily, and I make several notes about how to improve.”
“What is nice is if I go back and review my notes about a film I have seen several times, they keep on changing. This is good news because this means I am evolving as an actor.”
Years after entertaining us with his performances, Abhishek took a break from films. However, he’s back with a bang. Talking about what’s changed for Abhishek now, he says:
“I am doing the work I want to do, the way I want to do. Before this, I was happy coasting along, doing whatever I got.”
“The selection process is more focussed now. I always knew what I want to do and what I didn’t want to do, I am just implementing it now,” he explains.
The actor who has had his share of highs and lows says that success and failure are both going to happen to an actor. “They are unavoidable. So work very hard and do your best and continue to work hard, it’s as simple as that. Nobody said life is going to be easy, nobody promised you an easy life.”
“You have to get up every morning and fight for your right, fight to prove to your audience that you’re worthy of the affection.”
“That never will change. You have to still go out, still work hard and compete and do it while entertaining them,” he concludes.
The Indian film industry is one such place that doesn’t guarantee a successful life until you work for it. Your craft is what keeps you in the list and makes your survival in B-town easier. We wish Abhishek all the success for his future endeavours.
