Our Favourite ‘Sanjivani’ Is Making A Comeback & The Nostalgia Is Hitting Us Hard!

Catch hold of any desi 90’s kid and ask them about their entertainment source while growing up. Being a 90’s kid myself, I can speak for most of them when I say that boy, did we love our TV serials! We might not have had internet and streaming facilities back then, but our serials were surely the bomb. From Tu Tu Main Main, Khichdi, Sarabhai v/s Sarabhai all the way up to Dill Mill Gayye and Mile Jab Hum Tum, our evenings would be sorted. However, one of our all-time cheesy and full of drama favourites would have to be Sanjivani.

I’m pretty sure many from our generation decided to be doctors after watching Sanjivani! The serial convinced us that all hospitals were the cool places to be, filled with good looking doctors ready to steal our hearts away. The characters of Sanjivani was next to perfect. We fell in love with Juhi and her innocence and majorly crushed on Rahul; Simran’s character was the legit fashion icon at the time and Omi had his own hilarious moments. The beautiful theme music, however, is still etched in our minds!

And now, after a decade since the show went off air, Sanjivani is all set to make a comeback! According to sources, Mohnish Bahl and Gurdeep Kohli from the original cast will be a part of the Sanjivani reboot along with Yeh Pyaar Nahi Toh Kya Hai actor Namit Khanna and Ishqbaaz actor Surbhi Chandna, and new entrants Rohit Roy and Sayantani Ghosh.

Producer Siddharth P Malhotra told sources:

“In a time of snakes killing people to exact revenge, this show will bring tears to the viewers’ eyes and a smile on their faces. Gurdeep and Mohnish will be reprising their parts, while Rohit Roy and Sayantani Ghosh are new joinees who will be seen in important characters. Unlike the earlier show, this time the leads play resident doctors and not interns. It won’t be a frivolous show.”

The showrunners also gave us a tiny sneak-peek into the show. Rohit Roy and Surbhi Chandna’s first look has been released and they are looking quite the new-age doctors!

The shooting of the show has already begun and will go on-air by the end of July.
