The Tollywood film industry is going through a robust phase with controversies hounding the business. It is not long ago that Tollywood was ripped apart by actress Sri Reddy and her ‘casting couch’ allegations.
Fresh from the wounds of her protest, the industry finds itself in another massive controversy.
In a shocking incident,Ā Telugu filmĀ Producer Kishan Modugumudi alias Vibha Jayam and his wife Chandra Modugumudi were arrested for allegedly running a sex racket in the US.
According to India Today, the couple was persuading Tollywood actresses to come to the US, bluffing them with shows and then forcing them into prostitution. They have also been charged for harassing the victims.
A Hans India report says that the pair was supplying film heroines and anchors to the customers in star hotels centre in Chicago, Dallas, New Jersey and also Washington.
The customers were being chargedĀ 3,000 US dollars for these ‘dates’ and ‘encounters’. with the actresses who were lodged in costly hotels.
Police also found a proof of the brutal crime through a mail to the couple from one of the actresses who was victimised. In her mail, the woman begged Kishan and Chandra to not drag her into flesh trade anymore.
Condoms were also found in the accused house. However, the Indian couple is currently in the jail and have not been allowed to procure bail. Their two children have been moved to child welfare officials in Virginia.
