Wife’s Solution To Get Husband To Put Toilet Seat Down Is Pouring Beer Down The Sink

When we live with our spouses, there are bound to be disagreements. From which show to watch on TV to allocating household chores, disputes are quite common in any marriage. But how we resolve them says a lot about our relationship and its longevity.

Listening, communicating, setting boundaries, taking time-outs and compromising are some of the ways in which we resolve conflicts. But one UK-based woman got so frustrated that she resorted to drastic measures.

Rosebyanothername19 posted about her predicament on a Mumsnet thread by saying, “Basically my husband and I have an ongoing dispute over the downstairs toilet. I have asked him a million times to put the lid down after he uses it – which is about every half hour…,” reports Mail Online.

She further revealed her failed attempts at making him understand by adding,

“I have sent him links to articles about hygiene and also put a large note on top of the toilet asking nicely to put the lid down in case he just forgets. I have pointed out that our baby is going to be crawling soon and, as the downstairs loo is between the living room and kitchen, she is probably going to end up in there numerous times. Every request is met with an eye roll and him saying that’s it’s not a big deal or just ignored.”

“So tonight I have decided that every time he leaves the lid up I will empty a beer down the sink and leave the bottle upside down. I haven’t told him this and I’m just going to start doing it and wait until he asks or realizes what is going on.”

While a few parents on the forum agreed with her, most thought her ‘solution’ was excessive. People pointed out that she could drink the beer instead of wasting it or annoy him in less extreme ways to get her point across.
