Twitter Praises Ashwin’s Reply To Tim Paine’s Sledging, Calls Him A Paine-Killer

The third test match between India and Australia saw Tim Paine sledging Ravichandran Ashwin on the crease. The stump mic caught the Aussie wicketkeeper saying, “Can’t wait to get you to the Gabba, Ash.” But the latter’s reply won over cricket fans.

According to The Indian Express, he said, “Just like we wanna get you to India, may be your last series.” Paine continued adding, “Even your teammates think you’re a goose. Don’t they? Every one of them. How many IPL teams wanted you, when you asked every single one of them to have you?”

According to The Economic Times, despite being injured Ravichandran Ashwin and Hanuma Vihari formed a solid partnership on the last day which led the team to a draw. Ashwin’s wife Prithi tweeted appreciating his performance.

Cricket fans not only lauded Ashwin for his response but also roasted Paine who couldn’t focus and dropped 3 catches.

Deccan Herald reports that in a virtual press conference, the Aussie skipper admitted his mistake saying,

“I want to apologize for the way I went about things, I’m someone who prides himself on the way he leads this team and yesterday was a poor reflection of that. My leadership wasn’t good enough, I let the pressure of the game get to me. Yesterday, I fell short of my expectations and my team’s standards. I’m human, I want to apologize for the mistakes I made yesterday … we’ve set really high standards over the last 18 months and yesterday was a bit of a blip on the radar.

He added, “I spoke to (Ashwin) quickly after the game yesterday, and I said to him ‘yeah, you end up looking the fool, you open your mouth and you end up dropping a catch’. We had a bit of a laugh about that … and everything was fine.”

Who’s excited for the fourth test match starting January 15th in Brisbane?
