Journalist’s Phone Rings In The Middle Of A Press Conference, Tim Paine Sportingly Answers

The fourth Sydney Test between India and Australia has been an absolute pleasure to watch. Cheteshwar Pujara’s brilliant knock and the solid partnership between Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja took our run total to a whopping 622/7. There’s been a lot of action on the field, but the cricketers are winning fans’ hearts off the field too. First, it was the Pant-Paine bromance that went viral and now it’s this phone call.

Tim Paine was answering questions during the post-match press conference. An AFP news agency journalist had placed his phone on the microphone table to record the answers. And suddenly, it rang. But the Australian skipper handled the rude interruption with wit and charm. He sportingly answered it and even took a message for the reporter.

Watch the hilarious exchange between the two

As it turns out, the call was from a desk editor in Hong Kong who wanted the reporter ‘Martin’ to check something on his e-mail. Cricket enthusiasts lauded Tim Paine for bringing a bit of humour to an otherwise sombre interview.

Never a dull moment with this guy, right?

ICYMI: Australia is now 236/6 with play suspended due to rain. It’s a tough battle ahead for his team to chase India’s massive score. Do you guys think Virat Kohli should enforce a follow-on?
