They say ‘love is like a good cake. You never know when it’s coming, but you’d better eat it when it does!’ Well, New Zealand-born Joseph Herscher has created an absurdly complex machine to ensure he gets a perfectly timed piece of cake every time!

The device, which is known as a Rube Goldberg machine (after the man who first came up with the concept) includes a hammer, melting butter, a falling laptop and to top it all, a baby! The sole purpose of this captivating contraption is to bring him the cake just as he completes his dinner!

The project took Herscher three months to complete with 90% of the time spent on trial and error, reports The Guardian. Here’s what Herscher had to say about The Cake Server-

“I hate waiting for dessert, so here’s a Rube Goldberg machine to streamline dinnertime. It lets me keep eating, with no break before cake. It’s my most complex yet and took 3 months to make so I hope you enjoy it!” says Joseph.

The man clearly looks up to cartoonist Rube Goldberg whose machines are made from a series of imaginative engineering marvels. The best part is that they’re also well-known for being overly complex in comparison to the task achieved.

Joseph certainly manages to have his cake and eat it too!
