Disclaimer: The post is dark and full of theories, believe carefully.

Winter is here and so is the finale of Game of Thrones season 7. And with that, the anticipation in fans is notching up to new heights. The plotline might’ve leaked and all are going cray over the spoilers, but we are in a hot mess of fan theories and a possible leak of the actual episode. One such theory has us reeling and we can’t even imagine it coming true.

The Great War, the only one that matters is here, and all are pinning hopes on the return of Azor Ahai – the only one who can kill the Night King and end the Winter. But who is Azor Ahai? The fandom has two best guesses – Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen. There’s enough evidence pointing it could be either of them.

But who’s Azor Ahai?

Azor Ahai is a legendary figure in the faith of R’hllor, the Lord of Light. Thousands of years ago, he forged the sword Lightbringer which he used to defeat the darkness of the Great Other (The White Walkers). This came at a price, however, as in order to unleash the sword’s true powers he had to plunge it into the heart of his loving wife, Nissa Nissa. A prophecy foretells that he will be reborn as The Prince That Was Promised.”

And, what’s the prophecy?

“There will come a day after a long summer when the stars bleed and the cold breath of darkness falls heavy on the world. In this dread hour a warrior shall draw from the fire a burning sword. And that sword shall be Lightbringer, the Red Sword of Heroes, and he who clasps it shall be Azor Ahai come again, and the darkness shall flee before him.”

Thoros of Myr had said,

According to prophecy, our champion will be reborn to wake dragons from stone and reforge the great sword Lightbringer that defeated the darkness those thousands of years ago. If the old tales are true, a terrible weapon forged with a loving wife’s heart. Part of me thinks man was well rid of it, but great power requires great sacrifice. That much at least the Lord of Light is clear on.”

How did he forge the Lightbringer? It is said,

“To fight the darkness, Azor Ahai needed to forge a hero’s sword. He laboured for thirty days and thirty nights until it was done. However, when he went to temper it in water, the sword broke. He was not one to give up easily, so he started over. The second time he took fifty days and fifty nights to make the sword, even better than the first. To temper it this time, he captured a lion and drove the sword into its heart, but once more the steel shattered. The third time, with a heavy heart, for he knew beforehand what he must do to finish the blade, he worked for a hundred days and nights until it was finished. This time, he called for his wife, Nissa Nissa, and asked her to bare her breast. He drove his sword into her living heart, her soul combining with the steel of the sword, creating Lightbringer.

Now coming to the fan theory we read. Some believe that Dany is the prince who was promised (because in High Valyrian prince is a gender neutral word). This Redditor, MikeyB7509took that theory forward and added dragons to the equation.

“After watching the last episode (S07E06) I was reminded how Azor Ahai forged Lightbringer. First he tried to temper the sword in water, next in a lion, and lastly through the heart of his wife. What if Dany’s dragons are her “swords” – Viserion just went down in water, next Rhaegal would go down fighting the Lannisters (lion) and then Dany would have to put down Drogon… Just something that popped into my head that I haven’t seen anywhere yet. Enjoy Sunday night.”

Enjoy? ENJOY? We are flipping out at the mere thought of it. We simply don’t want this theory to ever come true. NOOOOO! A thousand nos.

Whether or not Dany is Azor Ahai, we don’t want any harm to the dragons. One has already joined the “other” side, we can’t afford to lose Rhaegal and Drogon too. NO!
