About 20 years ago, in the year 1999, a man named Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) lit up our theatre screens and took us inside ‘The Matrix‘. He turned our idea of reality on its head and made us swallow a bitter red pill that revealed that we were living in a simulated reality created by machines.
Only the hacker Neo (Keanu Reeves) who was prophesied as being ‘the One’ had the ability to free humans from the machines’ control. So, Morpheus, Neo and their badass teammate Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) went about doing just that. And they continued their mission through the next two films in the trilogy, ‘The Matrix Reloaded’ and ‘The Matrix Revolutions’.
Even though it has been two decades, this bullet dodging scene is still etched in our brains like it was yesterday. The movie was a pioneer in the sci-fi genre with brilliant special effects. And now, it is all set to make a comeback with The Matrix 4!
It’s confirmed, folks! Keanu Reeves will team up with Carrie-Ann Moss for the fourth instalment of the franchise. The previous 3 films were written and directed by Lana Wachowski and her sister Lilly. Warner Bros. Pictures has roped in Lana yet again to helm the movie. The Guardian quoted her saying,
“Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now. I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends.”
The upcoming project will start production in 2020 and there is no word yet on its plot or storyline. But if it is anything like the earlier outings involving artificial intelligence, a dystopian future where machines rule the world which only Keanu can save in bullet-time (wearing all-black), sign us up! Because Keanu is just the best at everything – as a human being and even as a fake boyfriend!
