Ariana Grande’s ‘Thank U, Next’ Video Is A ‘Fetch’ Tribute To Your Fav Iconic Teen Movies!

Alright people, it has dropped! And boy, it has dropped like it’s hot! The music video for Ariana Grande’s ‘Thank u, next’, a song that has inspired tons of memes and become the best thing to say to an ex, is finally here! The singer has been teasing her fans with BTS glimpses like this one!

And practically everyone figured out that the video was going to be a bomb-ass tribute to everyone’s favourite teen rom-coms from the 2000s, like Mean Girls and Legally Blonde!

And oh boy, was it the best ever music video or what? ‘Thank u, next’ is a glorious bop of nostalgia with every single frame being a reference to an iconic movie and Grande’s actual love life!

The song, which she wrote on the heels of her broken engagement with SNL comedian Pete Davidson, name drops all of her exes, including a sweet tribute to the late Mac Miller.

The video’s split into multiple segments, each referencing a famous 2000s’ teen romance movie. There are four in total!

And can I just say, she nails each and every one of them!

Mean Girls

Grande portrays the legendary Regina George (played by Rachel McAdams in the OG), and gets the same introduction from her schoolmates that Regina got in the movie! Except, the people are actually quoting legit facts from Grande’s life!

She can even be seen pasting a picture of an ex in her ‘Thank u, next’ book, a cool play on the ‘Burn Book’ from the movie!

You can easily figure the picture is that of her and Pete Davidson!

We even get the iconic Mean Girls’ squad walk in the school corridors! And surprise surprise! There’s Jonathan Bennett, who played Aaron Samuels, Regina’s boyfriend in the movie!

Linday Lohan’s character Cady Heron is played by the amazing Elizabeth Gillies, Grande’s costar from the Nickelodeon show Victorious, who looks so much like her that you couldn’t tell the difference!

The Mean Girls here too perform the Jingle Bell Rock!

And that’s when we all squeal in surprise because there’s a cameo from none other than Kris Jenner, cool mom to the Kardashian-Jenner clan!

She portrays Regina’s mom, played by Amy Poehler in the movie!

Bring It On

The next segment is from the popular cheerleading movie franchise starring Kirsten Dunst, Gabrielle Union and others.

Along with the cheerleading scenes, Grande also recreated the toothbrush scene!

13 Going On 30

Who remembers this adorable Mark Ruffalo and Jennifer Garner rom-com? Grande recreated the dollhouse scene from the movie’s climax, where the magic dust sends the 30-year-old Garner back to her teen years!

Legally Blonde

And finally, say hello to Elle Woods and her puppy Bruiser Woods from Legally Blonde!

Grande recreated several popular scenes from the Reese Witherspoon starrer, including her entry at Harvard Law School in her convertible and even this iconic scene at the salon where she does the ‘Bend and Snap’ routine!

And what do you know, Jennifer Coolidge, reprised her OG role from the movie!

They even recreated the famous step!

I mean, so many callbacks, you gotta watch the video now and see how many of celeb cameos and pop culture references you figure out!

Wasn’t that AH-MAZING??!

Everyone’s crushing hard on the video, which now has 36 million views, and pretty much broke the internet!

The video stars several YouTubers and Ariana Grande’s Victorious co-stars, plus some celebs from the original movies, and everyone collectively praising it has made the video HUGE!

Check out the love!

The Mean Girls just opened their clique to her!

And Jonathan Bennett, as in Aaron Samuels from Mean Girls, just quoted a Mean Girls dialogue! Whaaaaaa!

Imagine Mark Ruffalo tweeting you to say it was awesome!

And OG Elle Woods, Reese Witherspoon!

Kris Jenner’s epic reply to someone who was Keeping Up With… her cameo!

As a huge fan of this genre and all of these movies, I’m totally loving this video, which has given us lots of nostalgia and a way to overcome our ex-problems! All I can tell Ariana Grande now is, Thank U, (what’s) next!
