Thai Millionaire Will Pay ₹2 Crore To Anyone Who Marries His Daughter

Once you reach the age of 25, desi aunties and uncles get really hyped about getting us married. They go online, they activate the local neighbour-neighbour system and our sources have said that they even perform black magic rituals to get the right bride/groom.

But ye toh hum middle-class walon baat ho gayi. The surprising thing is that millionaire parents also suffer from similar urges. Don’t believe me? Well, listen to the story of a dad from Thailand who’s worried dead about getting his daughter married.

According to Mirror, Arnon Rodthong (a millionaire dad) is so frustrated that his daughter Karnsita isn’t getting married that he’s ready to give her away for around Rs. 2 crores (10 million Thai baht). While talking about the potential bride’s requirements, he said,

“He doesn’t have to be that smart – just able to read and write. Please don’t bring your degrees to cluster the house. Hard working and not lazy. Stingy about money and loves durian.”

While the dowry system in India dictates the bride’s family to pay the dowry, the Thai system (popularly known as Sin Sod) is the opposite. Which means that the groom has to pay the dowry (which by the way is pretty high). However, Rodthong has reversed that process and is ready to pay 10 million Thai baht to his future son-in-law, along with a stake in his durian farm.

Rodthong owns a durian farm and it processes some 50 tonnes of it every day. His daughter assists him but he wants “someone” to take care of it. He said,

I want someone to take care of my business and make it last. I don’t want a person with a bachelor’s, or master’s or philosopher’s degree. I want a diligent man. I just want someone with a hard-working attitude. That’s all. As soon as I have an in-law, I will give up all my assets to him.”

Karnsita, who found out about his father’s side venture had this to say:

“I first found out about my father’s post when my friend’s showed me. I was surprised but I can see the funny side to it, too. It is true that I am still single. If I have to get married with someone, I only want him to be a diligent and good person who loves his family.”

Now, since Rodthong has said that applicant can be of any nationality, I know what you thirsty single guys are thinking (Sorry ladies, Thailand ka LGBT rights gutter mein hai). But please keep in mind that Karnsita has said whoever gets approved to marry her will have a hard time getting the money from her father because she would “like to use it herself for plastic surgery in Korea”.
